Description:
Omnacortil Oral Drops is a corticosteroid medication used to manage a variety of health conditions in children, including certain allergies, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune and hormonal disorders, cancers, and nephrotic syndrome. It is also commonly prescribed following organ transplants to help prevent rejection. The drops should be given with food, usually once daily in the morning after breakfast, or as directed by your child’s doctor. The dosage is carefully determined based on your child’s age, weight, medical condition, and response to treatment. It is important to follow the prescribed duration and not to extend the treatment without medical advice. Stopping the medication suddenly can lead to withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, vomiting, and excessive thirst, so the dose should be gradually reduced under a doctor’s guidance. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, wait until they are calm and give the same dose again.
Common side effects of Omnacortil Oral Drops include increased appetite, weight gain, elevated blood pressure, and mood or behavioral changes. These effects are usually temporary and may resolve after treatment ends, but consult your doctor if they persist or cause concern. This medication may also weaken the immune system, making it harder for your child to fight infections.
