Tianeptine
Description:
Stabon Tab contains tianeptine sodium, an atypical antidepressant with a unique mechanism of action compared to traditional SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) or tricyclic antidepressants. Tianeptine is reported to enhance serotonin reuptake in some brain areas, contrary to the action of SSRIs. It is also known to affect glutamate neurotransmission and has been shown to have neuroprotective and anxiolytic properties.
Stabon Tab is primarily used for the treatment of depressive disorders, including major depressive episodes and dysthymia. It may also be used to manage anxiety symptoms, particularly those associated with depression. Tianeptine is thought to improve mood, reduce anxiety, and alleviate physical symptoms often linked to depression.
Stabon Tab is usually taken orally two or three times a day, as directed by a physician. The dosage may be adjusted based on the patient’s response and tolerance. Common side effects can include dry mouth, constipation, nausea, headache, dizziness, and insomnia. Less common but more serious side effects can occur.
Tianeptine has a potential for misuse and dependence, although it is generally considered lower than that of benzodiazepines. Abrupt discontinuation of Stabon Tab should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms. It is important for patients to inform their doctor of any other medications they are taking due to potential drug interactions.
