Salt Composition:
Cinnarizine + Dimenhydrinate
Description:
Stugeron Plus Tablet is a combination medication containing cinnarizine and dimenhydrinate, both of which have anti-vertigo properties but work through different mechanisms. This combination is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of vertigo associated with conditions like Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and migraine in adults who have not responded to alternative treatments.
Cinnarizine, as discussed earlier, is a calcium channel antagonist that helps prevent the constriction of blood vessels in the inner ear, thereby improving microcirculation and relieving vertigo symptoms. Dimenhydrinate is an antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors in the brain and also acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone, which is involved in inducing nausea and vomiting. By combining these two drugs, Stugeron Plus aims to provide more comprehensive relief from vertigo and its associated symptoms like nausea and vomiting.
The tablet is taken orally with food to help prevent stomach upset. The dosage and duration are prescribed by a physician for the short-term management of vertigo. Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, and stomach pain. Due to the potential for drowsiness, patients are advised not to drive or operate machinery while taking this medication. Alcohol consumption should also be avoided as it can enhance the sedative effects.
