Description:
Telista CH 40mg Tab is a combination antihypertensive medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines two active ingredients with different mechanisms of action to effectively lower blood pressure.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. By blocking angiotensin II, telmisartan helps to relax and widen blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and thus lowering blood pressure.
Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic (water pill). It works by increasing the excretion of salt and water from the body through urine. This reduces the volume of blood, which also helps to lower blood pressure. Diuretics also have a mild direct effect on blood vessels.
The combination of an ARB and a diuretic is often more effective in lowering blood pressure than either drug alone. Telista CH 40mg is typically prescribed when monotherapy with either telmisartan or chlorthalidone is not sufficient to achieve target blood pressure levels. It is usually taken once daily.
