Amlovas 5 Tablet belongs to a class of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and prevent angina (chest pain caused by heart problems). This medication works by lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart, which helps prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Amlovas 5 Tablet may be prescribed on its own or alongside other medicines. The exact dose depends on the condition being treated and its severity. It can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food, but it is best to take it consistently at the same time each day. Even if you feel well, do not stop taking it unless advised by your doctor, as high blood pressure often has no noticeable symptoms, and stopping the medicine could worsen your condition. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and weight management will further help in controlling blood pressure.
Common side effects include headache, edema (swelling), fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, and drowsiness. If these persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
