Augpen -DS Suspension is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in areas such as the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is effective against bacteria that may be resistant to other treatments, including helping to treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other therapies.
You can give Augpen -DS Suspension to your child with or without food, but it’s recommended to administer it with food as this can improve absorption and reduce the risk of stomach upset. The doctor may prescribe the medicine to be given two to three times a day. The dosage depends on the severity and type of infection, as well as your child’s age and body weight. Be sure to follow the prescribed dose, time, and method of administration. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, allow them to calm down and repeat the dose. However, do not double the dose if it’s close to the time for the next one.
Common side effects of Augpen -DS Suspension include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions. These side effects are usually mild and tend to resolve on their own. If they persist or cause significant discomfort, contact your child’s doctor immediately.
Before starting treatment, make sure to inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any prior episodes of allergies, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, airway obstructions, lung conditions, gastrointestinal issues, skin disorders, liver impairment, or kidney problems. This will help the doctor adjust the dosage and plan your child’s overall treatment effectively.
