Product Description
Colospa Tablet is a prescription medication used to treat and relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including stomach pain and spasms, abdominal cramps, gas, bloating, and changes in bowel habits. It works by relaxing the muscles of the intestine and alleviating spasms, thereby improving comfort and digestion.
The tablet should be taken in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. It is typically swallowed whole with water, preferably 20 minutes before a meal, to help reduce or prevent post-meal symptoms. It is important to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking, as drug interactions may occur. Continue taking Colospa for as long as recommended by your doctor—even if your symptoms improve early—to prevent relapse or worsening of the condition. Alongside medication, lifestyle changes such as a fiber-rich diet, increased fluid intake, and regular exercise can significantly enhance treatment outcomes.
Colospa generally has minimal side effects, but in rare cases, it may cause skin rashes, fainting, or angioedema. If you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, neck, tongue, or throat, stop the medication immediately and seek medical attention.
Before starting Colospa, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before using this medication.
