Description:
CTD-O 6.25/40 Tablet is a combination medication used to manage high blood pressure through multiple mechanisms. Effectively controlling blood pressure is crucial, as untreated hypertension can lead to serious complications such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure. This tablet contains a diuretic, which helps the body eliminate excess fluid, and should ideally be taken at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food, but it’s best to avoid taking it within four hours of bedtime to reduce nighttime urination. To gain the full benefit, it’s important to take the medicine regularly, even if you feel well, since high blood pressure typically presents no noticeable symptoms. Stopping the medication suddenly can increase your risk of cardiovascular events.
Dizziness is the most commonly reported side effect, while other possible side effects include tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, headache, and a drop in blood pressure. Frequent urination is expected due to the diuretic component (chlorthalidone) and is part of how the medication works to lower blood pressure. Although most side effects are mild and temporary, you should consult your doctor if any persist or become bothersome. Adjustments to your dose or a switch to a different medication may be considered if needed.
This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy, and you should consult your doctor before using it if you have kidney or liver issues, heart conditions, or diabetes. Additionally, alcohol consumption should be limited, as it can further lower blood pressure and increase the likelihood of side effects. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and read the accompanying patient leaflet for more detailed guidance.
