Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution (Gluten Free Lemon) is a laxative containing lactulose, a type of sugar that helps relieve constipation by drawing water into the bowel, which softens stools and makes them easier to pass. It is also used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, a liver-related condition that can affect brain function and cause confusion, tremors, or reduced alertness.
This solution can be taken with or without food and should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. For best results, take it at the same time each day. It may take up to 48 hours to show its full effect. Do not exceed the recommended dose, and if you miss a dose, avoid doubling up. If constipation persists beyond three days, consult your doctor.
Common side effects include nausea and vomiting, which are generally mild and temporary. In rare cases, more serious side effects like severe diarrhea or electrolyte imbalances can occur. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any concerning symptoms.
Before starting Duphalac, let your doctor know if you have diabetes or lactose intolerance, as it contains sugar derivatives.
