Duphalac Oral Solution Lemon is a laxative containing lactulose, a synthetic sugar used to treat constipation and hepatic encephalopathy—a liver-related condition that can affect brain function, leading to symptoms like confusion, tremors, and reduced consciousness. It works by drawing water into the bowel, softening stools, and promoting regular bowel movements.
The solution can be taken with or without food and should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It’s important to take it at the same time every day for the best results. Duphalac usually takes around 48 hours to start working. Do not exceed the recommended dosage, and if a dose is missed, avoid taking a double dose. If constipation persists for more than three days, consult your doctor.
Common side effects may include nausea and vomiting, which are typically mild and temporary. In rare cases, severe diarrhea and electrolyte imbalances can occur. Inform your doctor if any severe symptoms arise.
Before using Duphalac, let your doctor know if you have diabetes or lactose intolerance, as the solution contains sugar derivatives.
