Description:
Eliquis 5mg Tablet is an anticoagulant, or blood thinner, used to prevent and treat blood clots in the veins, lungs, brain, and heart. It is commonly prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack, particularly in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation). Eliquis is also used to prevent clot formation in individuals who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries.
This medication can be taken with or without food, and it’s important to take it at the same time each day for consistent effect. In some cases, you may need to take Eliquis for a long period, possibly even for life. Do not stop or adjust your dose without consulting your doctor, as this could increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (blood clot formation).
The most common side effect of Eliquis is increased bleeding, such as nosebleeds or easy bruising. Other potential side effects include hematoma, anemia, and nausea. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
Eliquis should not be taken if you have severe kidney or liver problems, are currently bleeding, or are using other medications to prevent blood clotting. Additionally, breastfeeding is not recommended while using this medication. Unlike some other blood thinners, regular blood tests (PT-INR) are not required when taking Eliquis. Make sure to inform your doctor of any other health conditions or medications you are using.
