Description:
Eltroxin 25mcg Tablet is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) by replacing the thyroid hormone that your body isn’t producing in sufficient amounts. This helps regulate your body’s metabolism and energy levels, improving your overall well-being.
Before starting Eltroxin 25mcg Tablet, your doctor will conduct a blood test to determine the appropriate dose for you. Once you begin taking the medicine, you’ll have regular blood tests to monitor its effectiveness, and your dosage may be adjusted as needed. It’s best to take this medication on an empty stomach, ideally before your first meal of the day, to ensure optimal absorption. You should take it consistently to get the maximum benefit, but it may take several weeks before you start noticing improvement in your symptoms. In many cases, you may need to take it for life. Discontinuing the medicine could result in the return of your symptoms.
The most common side effects occur when the dose is too high. These can include palpitations (irregular heartbeat), vomiting, anxiety, diarrhea, weight loss, tremors, increased appetite, and restlessness. These side effects typically go away once your dosage is adjusted to the correct level. If you experience more serious symptoms, such as a high fever, fast or irregular heart rate, low blood pressure, yellowing of the skin or eyes, confusion, or seizures, contact your doctor immediately.
Eltroxin 25mcg Tablet may lead to weight loss, but it should not be used as a treatment for obesity. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, inform your doctor promptly, as your dosage may need to be adjusted. Since many other medications can interact with Eltroxin, it’s important to inform your doctor about any other drugs you’re taking.
