Met XL 12.5 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers and is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (heart-related chest pain), and irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmia). It also helps prevent migraines, future heart attacks, and strokes.
Met XL 12.5 Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with other medications depending on the severity of your condition. It can be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal, but it should be taken regularly at the same time each day to achieve maximum benefit. It may take several weeks to notice the full effect, and long-term use may be necessary even if you feel well, as stopping the medicine suddenly can worsen your condition.
Common side effects include tiredness, headache, depression, diarrhea, rash, slow heart rate, dizziness, and nausea, which are usually mild and temporary.
