Description:
Monocef O 25mg Oral Drops is an antibiotic commonly prescribed to children for treating a variety of bacterial infections affecting the ears, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It is also effective in managing typhoid fever in children and adolescents. This medicine should ideally be given one hour before or two hours after meals, although it can be given with food if your child experiences stomach upset. The dosage is carefully determined by the doctor based on the type and severity of the infection, as well as your child’s age and body weight. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, you can repeat the dose, but do not double the next dose if it’s almost time for it. It’s important to note that this antibiotic is not effective against viral infections like the common cold or flu, and should only be used for such conditions if a bacterial infection is also present, as diagnosed by the doctor.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and headache. These effects are usually mild and temporary, subsiding as your child’s body adjusts to the medicine. However, if they persist or cause concern, consult your doctor. Be sure to share your child’s complete medical history with the doctor, including any past allergic reactions, heart issues, blood disorders, birth defects, lung or airway problems, gastrointestinal issues, skin conditions, or liver and kidney concerns. This information helps ensure safe and effective treatment, and may influence the dose or duration of the medication.
