Description:
Nexpro Junior Granules for Oral Suspension is a medication used to treat conditions associated with excessive stomach acid production, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, thereby providing relief from symptoms like heartburn, acid reflux, and stomach pain, and promoting the healing of ulcers and other acid-related damage.
It is also effective in preventing stomach ulcers caused by medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The granules should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor, typically on an empty stomach—preferably in the morning or at least one hour before a meal. It’s important to complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve, and not to stop the medication without consulting your doctor. For long-term users, regular monitoring may be necessary to check for potential drops in magnesium levels.
Common side effects may include headache, nausea, constipation or diarrhea, and stomach pain. These are generally mild and temporary, but if they persist or become troublesome, it’s best to consult your doctor. Prolonged use may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures and nutritional deficiencies. While alcohol does not directly interfere with this medication, it can worsen acid-related symptoms by increasing acid production. This medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision in some people, so avoid driving or using heavy machinery if affected. It is also not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional.
