Description:
Saridon Tablet is an over-the-counter medication primarily used for the fast relief of headaches. It has been a trusted brand for headache relief for many years. The composition of Saridon has evolved over time. Older, classic Saridon tablets contained a combination of Paracetamol (acetaminophen), Caffeine, and Propyphenazone. Newer formulations, such as Saridon Advance, may contain only Paracetamol and Caffeine, often at higher strengths of Paracetamol.
Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins in the brain and spinal cord, which are involved in pain signaling. It also acts on the brain’s heat-regulating center to reduce fever.
Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. In pain relief medications, caffeine is often included to enhance the analgesic effects of paracetamol and other pain relievers. It can also help to reduce drowsiness and improve alertness, which can be beneficial when experiencing a headache.
Propyphenazone was another analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent present in older Saridon formulations. However, due to concerns about its potential side effects, it is not included in some of the newer versions of Saridon available in certain markets.
Saridon is typically used for the symptomatic relief of mild to severe headaches, including tension headaches and migraines. It may also provide relief from other types of pain such as toothache, menstrual discomfort, postoperative pain, rheumatic pain, and pain and fever associated with colds and flu. The onset of action is usually relatively quick, with some formulations reporting relief within 5 minutes.
