Description:
Sgltr M 1000 mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication used to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: dapagliflozin and metformin hydrochloride.
Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, causing excess glucose to be excreted in the urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Metformin hydrochloride is a biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in the body’s tissues.
The “1000 mg” likely refers to the strength of metformin hydrochloride in the tablet; the strength of dapagliflozin (usually 5mg or 10mg) will also be present on the packaging. SGLTR M is typically taken once or twice daily with meals. Common side effects may include urinary tract infections, genital infections, nausea, and diarrhea. It is important for patients to follow dietary and exercise recommendations while taking this medication.
