Salt Composition:
Amlodipine + Atenolol
Description:
Stamlo Beta Tabs combine amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and atenolol, a beta-adrenergic blocker, into a single formulation for the treatment of hypertension. This synergistic combination addresses high blood pressure through complementary mechanisms.
Amlodipine dilates peripheral blood vessels by blocking calcium influx into smooth muscle cells, reducing vascular resistance. Atenolol, a selective beta-1 blocker, reduces heart rate and cardiac output by blocking the effects of adrenaline on the heart. The combined action often results in more effective blood pressure control than either drug used alone.
This combination is particularly useful for patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or those who have co-existing conditions that may benefit from both drug classes. Stamlo Beta Tabs are typically administered once daily. Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, bradycardia (slow heart rate), and peripheral edema. Patients should be monitored for signs of excessive blood pressure lowering or cardiac slowing.
Stamlo Beta Tabs should be used with caution in individuals with certain heart conditions, such as bradycardia or heart block, and in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease due to the potential for bronchoconstriction with beta-blockers. Abrupt cessation should be avoided, especially in patients with coronary artery disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is essential during treatment.
