Description:
Telma-Beta 50 Tablet ER is a combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). By effectively lowering blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. When used early, especially in patients who have suffered a heart attack, it can also improve survival rates.
The medicine should be taken with food at the same time each day to maintain steady levels in the bloodstream. It’s important to take it exactly as prescribed and continue using it even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often presents no symptoms. Stopping the medication abruptly without medical advice can worsen your condition. Along with taking this medicine, regular exercise, a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight can further support blood pressure control. Always follow your doctor’s recommendations closely.
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, increased potassium levels, breathlessness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fatigue. Orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure when standing) may occasionally occur and lead to fainting. To minimize this, rise slowly from sitting or lying positions, and avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy. Potassium-rich foods and supplements should be avoided unless advised by your doctor.
Your doctor may request regular monitoring of your blood pressure, kidney function, blood sugar levels, urea, and electrolyte levels during treatment to ensure the medicine is working effectively and safely.
