Description:

Tendia 20mg Tab contains teneligliptin, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class. It is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition where the body does not make enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it makes, leading to high blood sugar levels.

Teneligliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which breaks down incretin hormones like glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These incretins play a key role in regulating blood glucose by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas when blood sugar is high and suppressing glucagon release when blood sugar is low. By inhibiting DPP-4, teneligliptin increases the levels and prolongs the action of GLP-1 and GIP, resulting in improved glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduced glucagon secretion. This helps to lower both fasting and postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose levels with a relatively low risk of causing hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy.

Tendia 20mg tablets are typically taken orally once daily, and they can be taken with or without food. The 20mg dose is the standard recommended daily dose for most adult patients with type 2 diabetes, but the prescribing physician may adjust the dosage based on individual needs and the patient’s response to treatment. Teneligliptin is often used as an adjunct to diet and exercise and can be prescribed alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and SGLT2 inhibitors, to achieve better blood sugar control.
