Description:
Tendia M 20/500mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action to improve glycemic control in patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with metformin alone.
Metformin belongs to the biguanide class of drugs. It primarily works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and reducing the absorption of glucose in the intestines. It also improves insulin sensitivity, allowing the body to use insulin more effectively.
Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down incretins. Incretins are hormones that stimulate the release of insulin after meals and reduce the secretion of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar). By inhibiting DPP-4, teneligliptin increases incretin levels, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
