Description:
Urimax 0.4 mg Cap contains tamsulosin hydrochloride, an alpha-adrenergic receptor antagonist specifically selective for alpha1A receptors found in the prostate gland and bladder neck. By blocking these receptors, tamsulosin causes relaxation of the smooth muscles in these areas.
This relaxation helps to improve the flow of urine and reduce the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as prostate enlargement. BPH can lead to urinary symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine stream, frequent urination (especially at night), urgency, and the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying. Urimax 0.4 mg capsules are typically taken once daily.
While effective in relieving urinary symptoms, tamsulosin does not reduce the size of the prostate gland. Common side effects can include dizziness, lightheadedness, orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure upon standing), ejaculatory dysfunction, and nasal congestion. Patients should be aware of these potential side effects, especially when starting treatment.
