Description:
Valdiff M 1000mg Tab contains metformin hydrochloride, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the biguanide class. Metformin is a cornerstone in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It primarily works by reducing the production of glucose by the liver (hepatic gluconeogenesis) and by increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin, thereby improving glucose uptake and utilization by peripheral tissues.
Unlike some other antidiabetic drugs, metformin generally does not stimulate insulin secretion and thus carries a lower risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) when used alone.
Valdiff M 1000mg tablets are usually taken once or twice daily with meals to help lower and control blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is often prescribed as a first-line treatment and can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin.
Common side effects can include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, particularly at the start of treatment. These side effects often subside with continued use. In rare cases, a serious side effect called lactic acidosis can occur, especially in patients with kidney problems.
