Description:
Ventryl D Syp, is typically used for the symptomatic relief of cold and flu symptoms, including nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and cough. It contains three active ingredients: phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine maleate, and dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nasal passages, which helps to reduce nasal congestion and stuffiness. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, a chemical released by the body during allergic reactions, thus helping to relieve symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes.
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that acts on the cough center in the brain to reduce the urge to cough. This combination provides relief from multiple cold and flu symptoms, making it easier to breathe and reducing discomfort. It is usually taken orally as directed by a doctor or according to the product label. Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and blurred vision (due to chlorpheniramine), as well as increased blood pressure and heart rate (due to phenylephrine). It is important to use this syrup with caution, especially in individuals with heart conditions or high blood pressure.
