Description:
Warf 1mg Tab contains warfarin sodium, an anticoagulant medication commonly known as a blood thinner. Warfarin works by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors in the liver, thereby reducing the blood’s ability to clot.
This medication is primarily used to prevent and treat blood clots, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), as well as to prevent stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation and to prevent blood clots in patients with artificial heart valves.
The dosage of warfarin is highly individualized and requires careful monitoring of the patient’s international normalized ratio (INR), a standardized measure of blood clotting time.
Regular INR testing is essential to ensure that the warfarin dose is within the therapeutic range – high enough to prevent clots but not so high as to cause bleeding. Warfarin has a narrow therapeutic index, meaning that small changes in dose can lead to significant changes in its anticoagulant effect.
