Salt Composition:
Glimepiride + Metformin
Description:
Zoryl M 0.5mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication used to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: glimepiride and metformin hydrochloride.
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin. Metformin hydrochloride is a biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in the body’s tissues. The “M 0.5” indicates that each tablet contains 0.5mg of glimepiride and a certain amount of metformin (the specific amount will be listed on the packaging, often 500mg or 1000mg).
This combination is often used when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with either medication alone. Zoryl M is usually taken once or twice daily with meals, as directed by a physician.
Common side effects may include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort), and lactic acidosis (a rare but serious side effect of metformin). Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential.
